Marcola’s defense asks the court for the right given to Vorcaro for unrecorded lawyer visits

by Marcelo Moreira

The Federal Court is expected to decide in the coming days on a request from the defense of Marco Willians Herbas Camacho, known as Marcola, appointed as leader of the criminal faction Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). Lawyers request authorization to talk to the client without any type of monitoring or recording.

The request is based on a recent decision by Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), who on Monday (9) authorized the same benefit to banker Daniel Vorcaro, imprisoned in the Federal Penitentiary of Brasília.

The decision was considered an exception to the rules of the unit, known for adopting stricter security measures and for housing, mainly, members of criminal factions.

Unlike regular prisons, in federal penitentiaries all visits and conversations are usually monitored. After the benefit granted to Vorcaro, other inmates also appealed to the STF requesting the same treatment.
