Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging attacks since the first days of the war between the USA, Israel and Iran. The Lebanese group is an ally of the Iranian regime. Since then, in addition to land attacks, Israel has carried out daily bombings against Lebanon, mainly in the capital Beirut. The Israeli Army claims to have already carried out more than 500 air strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanese territory. The Israeli Army said on Thursday that Hezbollah fired around 200 missiles into Israeli territory on Wednesday night, which was the Lebanese group’s “largest bombardment” since the resumption of war between the two sides. Of these, there were “only two or three direct impacts”, according to the ministry. Israel and Hezbollah had a ceasefire in the most recent war between the two, which lasted between October 2023 and October 2024. The truce, however, broke down on May 1 due to the start of the war between Israel, the United States and Iran. At the same time, Katz also said he had ordered the Army to prepare to “expand” operations in Lebanon, where Israeli soldiers are already operating along the border between the two countries. Israel has been accumulating troops and tanks there, according to news agencies, and there are reports of the presence of ground attacks on Lebanese cities in the far south of the country.
