KitKat Truck Stolen, Missing After Chocolate Theft

by Syndicated News

Talk about a sticky situation.

A transport truck carrying approximately 12 metric tons of KitKat chocolate bars—equivalent to 26,455 pounds of goods—remains unaccounted for after being stolen while completing a distribution trip in Europe, the company shared.

“We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in Central Italy and their destination in Poland,” the chocolate brand said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) March 29. “We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate.”

But contrary to online reports that the theft could lead to a supply shortage days before Easter, the statement noted that “there are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected.”

KitKat’s parent company Nestle confirmed that the shipment left its production facility the previous week, with the bars set to be distributed throughout Europe before eventually arriving at their final stop. And while a company spokesperson playfully praised the thieves’ “exceptional taste,” they also noted that their predicament has become increasingly common across the industry.
