The government of Chile’s conservative president, José Antonio Kast, decided to revoke this Tuesday (12) a total of 43 environmental decrees approved during the administration of former left-wing president Gabriel Boric. The measures dealt with the creation of protected areas, emission control rules and standards linked to climate policy that were still in administrative processing.
The document that formalized the revocation of the decrees was sent by the Undersecretary of the Environment, José Ignacio Vial. Among the acts are standards related to the creation of new protected areas, environmental decontamination plans, air quality standards and regulations linked to the Framework Law on Climate Change, which establishes carbon neutrality goals for the country by 2050.
