The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said this week that they have already eliminated more than 850 members of the Hezbollah terrorist group in southern Lebanon, since the beginning of the current phase of fighting, triggered by the Israeli and American war against Iran. According to Israeli military spokesman Nadav Shoshani, a significant number of the terrorists killed belong to the so-called elite Radwan unit.
According to Shoshani, around 230 terrorists killed were part of this force considered strategic within the Hezbollah structure. According to the Israeli government, the ongoing offensive in southern Lebanon aims to dismantle Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, especially in areas close to the border, where the terrorist group maintains operational positions aimed at Israeli communities.
According to data released by Israel, Hezbollah has carried out more than 900 coordinated attacks against the country since the start of this current confrontation, including the use of drones, rockets and missiles. These offensives caused the deaths of civilians in northern Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the IDF will maintain security control over areas from southern Lebanon to the Litani River even after the end of ground operations against Hezbollah. According to him, the measure is part of a plan to establish a security zone and prevent further attacks against communities in northern Israel.
