Iran’s Revolutionary Guard reported this Sunday (29) that it had launched a new wave of missile and drone attacks against Israel and United States bases in the Middle East.
“In the first phase of this operation, air and drone operations infrastructures, as well as arsenals at the American bases of Camp Victory (Iraq), Arifjan (Kuwait) and Al Kharj (Saudi Arabia), were attacked with missiles and drones”, announced the public relations department of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in a statement carried by the “Tasnim” news agency.
Furthermore, he claimed to have “precisely attacked the hideouts” of the United States, Israel and the Iraqi Kurdish group in several areas in Arad, the Negev and Tel Aviv (in Israel), as well as in Arbil (Iraq), the United States Fifth Naval Fleet (in Bahrain) and in Al-Dhafra (in the United Arab Emirates), in the 86th wave of the so-called “Operation True Promise 4”, which, as he indicated, takes place “in multiple stages”.
Hours earlier, the Revolutionary Guard claimed to have destroyed a United States (US) air control and surveillance plane, known as AWACS, in a missile attack launched against an American air base in Saudi Arabia.
“An E-3 plane, known as AWACS, capable of identifying, commanding and controlling aircraft in flight at the Al-Kharj base in Saudi Arabia, was completely destroyed, and other aircraft in the vicinity also suffered serious damage”, says the note released by the “Fars” agency.
Last Friday (27), at least 12 American soldiers were injured in an Iranian attack on the Al Kharj air base, two of them seriously, according to American authorities at the time.
The day after the attack, the United States Army denied statements by the spokesman for the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfagari, who had stated that Iran attacked two alleged American installations in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, with missiles and drones, killing 500 people.
This new wave of attacks comes amid indirect talks between Washington and Tehran, with Pakistan’s mediation, and the recent deployment of American soldiers to the Middle East.
This Sunday, several Iranian authorities issued stern warnings against any possible land incursion into the country.
The President of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, denounced that the United States publicly talks about negotiations, but “in secret” plans a ground attack, and defiantly warned that Iran is “waiting” for the arrival of the American military.
Later, the spokesman for the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters, which coordinates the regular Army with the Revolutionary Guards, warned that any US ground attack will end with the “humiliating capture” of its troops, who will be “food for the sharks of the Persian Gulf”.
In turn, General Amirhosein Shafiei, commander of the Northwest Barracks of the Land Army, threatened in a harsh tone that “they will behead each and every American soldier” and repeated that “the Iranian nation will determine the end of the war”
