Gordon Murray T.50s: Coming This Year

Would you believe that Gordon Murray’s T.50 supercar is already six years old? It seemed like just yesterday that the former McLaren F1 designer debuted his radical, fan-powered coupe. Since its debut in 2020, all 100 road-going examples of the T.50 sold out quickly. But don’t worry, an even more extreme version of the T.50 is coming this year.

The T.50s Niki Lauda is Gordon Murray Automotive’s track-focused, 761-horsepower riff on the original T.50. It packs serious aerodynamic hardware and a whopping $3.0 million price tag. The first T.50s concept debuted in 2021, but finally, GMA’s new track toy is nearly ready for production.

Today, the company has released new details on the upcoming T.50s, including a few gorgeous shots of the supercar testing on the track at the Bahrain International Circuit. Racing legend Dario Franchitti was behind the wheel, and he had nothing but good things to say about the supercar.

“The T.50s is the most engaging car I’ve ever driven,” Franchitti says.

“For pure fun factor, it surpasses all other track-only models, my favorite supercars of all time, and even the race cars I drove to multiple world championship wins. Gordon set out to create the greatest on-track driving experience ever. The team has more than delivered. The feedback, responsiveness, performance, sound, visibility, braking, stability… everything… It’s just perfect.”

Packing a 3.9-liter Cosworth V12, the T.50s puts out a whopping 761 hp at 11,500 rpm, and revs to a ridiculous 12,100 rpm. Power is routed through a six-speed paddle shift gearbox, with a central driving position and a fully adjustable aerodynamic package generating up to 2,645 pounds of downforce. The total curb weight is estimated to be just under 2,000 pounds.

Four customer cars have already been built, but production is slated to ramp up over the next few weeks. All 25 cars are already accounted for, shockingly, and the company says they should be to customers before the end of the year.
