The storms that hit the Zona da Mata in Minas Gerais caused tragedies in Juiz de Fora and Ubá. The Fire Department reported this Sunday (1st) that the search for missing people in Juiz de Fora was ended after the body of a 9-year-old boy was found in the Paineiras neighborhood. He was the last person reported missing in the city.

To date, 72 deaths have been recorded and more than 8,500 people have been left homeless across the state. According to official data, this is already the deadliest rainy period in the last 20 years in Minas Gerais. In Ubá, however, teams remain mobilized in an attempt to locate the last victim still missing.

The work to identify the victims remains under the responsibility of the Medical-Legal Institute (IML), with strict compliance with technical and legal protocols. According to the Civil Police, all identifications are communicated in advance to families before any public disclosure.
