European authorities reported this Wednesday (25) that they are investigating Iran’s involvement in a series of terrorist attacks on the continent since the start of the war against the USA and Israel. In total, almost a dozen cases are investigated in different countries.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, revealed that Iranian agents were recruiting individuals via the internet to carry out attacks against Jewish schools, synagogues and companies linked to Israel. They would even have created a fake group called Righteous Companions Islamic Movement to claim responsibility for actions and hinder the connection with Iran.
European intelligence officials say the group was not on their radar before this month.
This Wednesday, British police announced the arrest of two men in connection with the anti-Semitic attack on ambulances belonging to the Jewish community in north London earlier this week.
The report found that the attacks were widely publicized on pro-Iranian regime communication channels. In at least one case, the action was announced in advance, according to investigators and counterterrorism experts.
On March 16, the group that claimed most of the attacks warned citizens in Europe to distance themselves “immediately from all American and Zionist interests and everything related to them.”
