Former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL) argued that, to guarantee governability if he is elected president of the Republic, senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) will need to tighten the rules against NGOs, especially foreign ones that send resources to Brazil to influence the political scenario through fact-checking agencies.
“When we are elected, we need to ensure that we can actually use the power. This means that we need a new law on NGOs, because when you have money coming from the United States or any other country going to checking agencies and they produce reports that justify censorship, this is a threat to our sovereignty”, said Eduardo, during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held this Saturday (21) in Hungary.
The former parliamentarian assessed that social networks will be decisive in the race for Planalto and praised Trump for “ensuring that American companies, which are the main platforms in Brazil, ensure freedom of expression during our elections.”
Eduardo recalled that Flávio is running only because of Bolsonaro’s arrest, “because if my father were free, Jair Bolsonaro would win the election with a wide advantage”, but claimed that the senator is “running and leading in the polls”.
“And Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has already fulfilled his role, which means that the Federal Supreme Court took him out of jail and elected him in an unfair election in 2022, with a lot of censorship”, he added.

Asked about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Eduardo cited bacterial bronchopneumonia, saying that “he almost died recently.”
Currently living in the United States and responding to a criminal case in Brazil, he said that the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), especially Alexandre de Moraes, “seek revenge”, and that Bolsonaro has already met the requirements for granting a humanitarian house arrest, “but this insane justice system, led by a man called Alexandre de Moraes, is still trying to kill him by keeping him in prison”.
“This is what will happen here if you lose the election, this is what they tried to do to President Donald Trump in the United States. So this is, literally, the true face of evil,” he said.
