Food delivery robots in Chicago and Detroit (USA) were filmed destroying bus stops and colliding with pedestrians on city sidewalks.
according to CBS Chicago the robots belong to two robot companies, Serve Robotics and C Robotics. One of them was seen breaking the glass in a bus stop last Sunday, while another was involved in a similar incident on Tuesday afternoon.
A video of Sunday’s incident showed the delivery robot “Nasir” from Serve Robotics crash into the glass panel of a bus stop. The crash left shards of glass scattered on the pavement and on top of the robot, which then attempted to drive over the debris.
On Tuesday, a food delivery robot was from C Robotics also involved in a similar incident after destroying a bus stop in another part of the city. “This happens all the time—every time you look up, the robot is driving by and hitting people,” said the local hairdresser Anthony Spaulding to CBS.
Both technology companies stated that they are aware of the incidents, quickly cleaned up and are investigating the matter. Both C Robotics and Serve also covers the cost of repairing the bus stops that were damaged by their robots.

The robots from C Robotics monitored virtually by humans, while Serve’s robots operate completely autonomously, unless human intervention is required.
The two companies currently operate in parts of Chicago under a robot food delivery pilot program that was approved in 2022. Since then, a petition to pause the program has garnered more than 3,700 signatures.

Everyone thinks these delivery robots are cute until they start destroying city infrastructure.🧐
This 160-pound AI bot in Chicago just drove straight through the glass pane of a bus stop, showering itself in shattered glass. Now its sensors are so scrambled by the debris that… pic.twitter.com/G8hzBvEjp5
