Conan O’Brien is sending love to Martin Short.
As the former late night host closed the Oscars 2026, he shared a sweet shoutout to his longtime friend.
“It’s been an honor and a joy,” Conan said as he closed the March 15 ceremony at the Dolby Theatre. “We love you, Marty Short, good night.”
Conan’s nod to the Only Murders in the Building star comes less than a month after his daughter Katherine Short died by suicide Feb. 23 at the age of 42.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” Martin’s rep said in a statement to E! News at the time. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”
In the weeks since his daughter’s passing, Martin—who shared Katherine, as well as son Oliver39, and Henry36, with late wife Nancy Dolman—had kept a low profile, pushing back a comedy show he was set to perform alongside costar Shad Martin at the end of last month at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
