China tries to ensure oil flow amid war in Iran

China’s communist regime is trying to negotiate with Iran, amid the Islamic regime’s war against the United States and Israel, to guarantee the safe passage of oil and natural gas ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic route that concentrates around a fifth of global energy trade. The information was released by the agency Reutersbased on three diplomatic sources.

According to the information, Beijing is in talks with Tehran to ensure that vessels carrying crude oil and liquefied natural gas from Qatar can cross the strait without being subject to restrictions imposed by the Iranian regime. The war, which has entered its sixth day, has drastically reduced traffic in the region and raised international oil prices by more than 15% since the fighting began.

According to data from Vortexa consultancy, cited by Reutersthe number of oil tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz fell to four vessels one day after the start of the war, on Saturday (28), compared to an average of 24 per day since January. Around 300 ships remain within the strait area, awaiting safer conditions for navigation.

China, the world’s largest energy importer, depends heavily on the Middle East to fuel its economy. According to the analysis cited by CBS Newsaround 70% of the oil and gas consumed by the country is imported, and approximately 45% of Chinese oil passes through the Strait of Hormuz. Data cited by the broadcaster also indicates that up to 80% of the oil exported by Iran is destined for the Chinese market.

The Iranian regime announced that it will not allow ships linked to the United States, Israel, European countries or their allies to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, but did not mention Chinese vessels.
