Caterpillarthe company behind the popular yellow construction machinery, has shared a concept that could mark its entry into the pickup market.
Taking inspiration from some AI-generated images shared on the internet in late 2024, Caterpillar developed the concept Cat Trucka heavy-duty pickup truck featuring the logo CAT and the classic yellow tones on the bodywork.
“You couldn’t look away, and neither could we. [I clienti] they dreamed of torque and towing capacity. These were the easy parts for Caterpillarso we went further to see how we could help them even more,” the company wrote in a statement.
The pickup is essentially a Ford Super Duty with the logo CATbut it includes some nice features, like a drone launch station, a driver fatigue monitoring system, and a camera system to detect if workers are too close to heavy machinery.
The pickup also features an additional screen on the dashboard that houses the company’s AI assistant, along with the rest of the monitoring software mentioned above.
Interested? For now everything indicates that it is only a concept and Caterpillar has not yet confirmed whether the project will actually be produced.
However, unlike other prototypes that seem too good to be true, it’s not hard to imagine the pickup CAT on the roads in the future.
