Former president Jair Bolsonaro, imprisoned in the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, requested this Tuesday (10) from the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court, Alexandre de Moraes, authorization for Darren Beattie, advisor to Donald Trump’s government, to visit him in the penitentiary.
The text of the defense states that “The visitor will fulfill an official schedule in Brazil and will be in Brasília for a short period, a circumstance that ends up making it impossible to carry out the visit on the ordinary dates currently scheduled for visitation (Wednesdays and Saturdays). Given this objective limitation of the schedule – common in commitments of a diplomatic nature -, exceptional authorization is required so that the visit can take place on March 16th, in the afternoon, or on March 17th.”
The politician was the center of a controversy amid the diplomatic crisis between the US and Brazil due to Bolsonaro’s trial at the STF. At the time, he called minister Alexandre de Moraes “the main architect of the censorship and persecution of Bolsonaro”.
