Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched a new version of the Multivan Camper in the UK, developed specifically as an entry-level vehicle for professional converters.

Launched on February 16, 2026, the model comes as a “blank canvas” ready for individual residential development projects.

The new Camper is based on the long wheelbase (LWB) version of the Multivan model, offers two drive options and is already available to order.

Engines and prices

The base model can be configured with:

  • 2.0 TDI 150 PS DSG – from £43,900 (excl. VAT) / £52,680 (incl. VAT)
  • 2.0 eHybrid 240 PS DSG 4Motion – from £50,725 (excl. VAT) / £60,870 (incl. VAT)

The plug-in hybrid version with 4Motion all-wheel drive expands the possibilities of use, especially for customers looking for greater versatility on long journeys or on varied terrain.

Construction designed for conversion

The Multivan Camper has been designed to minimize waste and make the work of converters easier. The vehicle leaves the factory with:

  • Manual pop-up roof
  • Already installed inner lining of the roof
  • Completely empty back space
  • Without floor covering
  • No rear seats
  • Two swivel front seats
  • Double sliding side doors
  • Rear hinged door (tailgate)

This configuration eliminates the need to remove unnecessary components, reducing both cost and rebuild time.

Interior space and capacity

While maintaining the dimensions of the Multivan LWB, the Camper offers a volume of 4,053 liters behind the two front seats. The internal dimensions are:

  • Length: 2,625 mm
  • Width: 1,665 mm
  • Height: 1,312 mm

The volume and internal geometry create a suitable environment for different types of layouts — from compact weekend solutions to more complex projects for longer trips.

Customization from the factory

Even before the conversion itself, optional equipment can be specified, which will bring the vehicle closer to the desired final result. Available options include:

  • Climatronic three-zone air conditioning
  • Heated front seats
  • Navigation system
  • Cast wheels

This approach allows converters to start a project with a vehicle better suited to the profile of the end customer.

Homologation

The Multivan Camper comes with incomplete M1 homologation, requiring a rebuild and second stage type approval for final registration. It is therefore a product designed exclusively for the professional remodeling market.

With this strategy, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles expands its presence in the campervan segment and offers an official, standardized platform on which specialized companies can develop tailor-made solutions — for leisure, tourism or adventure mobility.
