Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has presented in the UK a new version of the Multivan Camper, developed especially as a base vehicle for professional builders.
Launched on 16 February 2026, the model comes to market as a ‘blank canvas’ ready for bespoke campervan projects.

Based on the long wheelbase (LWB) version of the Multivan, the new Camper is offered with two powertrain options and is already available to order.
Engine options and prices
The base model can be configured with:
- 2.0 TDI 150 PS DSG – from £43,900 (excl. VAT) / £52,680 (incl. VAT)
- 2.0 eHybrid 240 PS DSG 4Motion – from £50,725 (excl. VAT) / £60,870 (incl. VAT)
The plug-in hybrid version with 4Motion four-wheel drive expands the range of use, especially for customers seeking greater flexibility for long-distance journeys or varied terrain.
Construction developed for conversion
The Multivan Camper has been developed to reduce waste and make work easier for remodelers. The vehicle is delivered from the factory with:
- Manual pop-up roof installed
- Internal roof covering fully installed
- Completely empty rear cargo area
- Without floor covering
- Without rear seats
- Two swiveling front seats
- Double sliding doors on the sides
- Tailgate
This configuration eliminates the need to remove unnecessary components, reducing both cost and rebuild time.
Interior space and capacity
With the same dimensions as the Multivan LWB, the Camper offers 4,053 liters of capacity behind the two front seats. The internal measurements are:
- Length: 2,625 mm
- Width: 1,665 mm
- Height: 1,312 mm
The volume and the internal geometry create a suitable environment for different floor plans – from compact weekend solutions to more extensive projects for longer journeys.
Fabrikkstilpasning
Before the conversion itself, additional equipment can be specified to bring the vehicle closer to the desired end result. Among the available options are:
- Three-zone Climatronic air conditioning
- Heated front seats
- Navigation system
- Alloy wheels
This approach enables remodelers to start the project with a base that is better suited to the needs of the end customer.
Homologering
The Multivan Camper is delivered with incomplete M1 homologation, which requires rebuilding and a second phase of type approval for final registration. The product is therefore exclusively aimed at the professional remodeling market.
With this strategy, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles strengthens its position in the campervan segment by offering an official and standardized platform where specialized companies can develop tailor-made solutions – whether for leisure, tourism or adventure mobility.
