“We have confirmed that several videos have gone viral on the internet. When Punch approached another cub in the group to try to communicate, the cub avoided him. Punch then sat down, apparently giving up on interacting, when he was scolded and dragged away by an adult monkey. The adult monkey that dragged Punch is probably the mother of the cub he tried to communicate with. She probably felt that her baby was uncomfortable with Punch and became irritated, expressing something like ‘don’t be mean.’ Punch has been scolded by other monkeys many times in the past and has learned to socialize with them. In the video, after being dragged, Punch runs to his orangutan-shaped stuffed animal. However, as usual, he leaves the toy shortly after and returns to interact with other monkeys. The video was probably recorded on the morning of February 19th.
