Thursday’s test vote, with a score of 45 to 55, came as Democrats threaten a partial government shutdown when the money runs out on Friday (30). But Trump said shortly before the vote that “we don’t want a shutdown” and that the two sides were discussing a possible deal to separate homeland security funding from the rest of the legislation and fund it for a short period. See videos trending on g1 As the country grapples with the deaths of two protesters at the hands of federal agents in Minneapolis, angry Democrats in the Senate on Wednesday presented a list of demands, including that officers remove their masks and identify themselves, as well as obtain arrest warrants. If those demands are not met, Democrats say they are prepared to block the sweeping funding bill, denying Republicans the votes needed to pass it and triggering a government shutdown.
