US reopens airport after confusion between air traffic controllers and military personnel testing secret anti-drone system on border with Mexico

Government and airline officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the FAA closed the airspace due to concerns that a laser-based anti-drone system being tested by the U.S. Army could pose risks to air traffic. The two agencies planned to discuss the matter later this month, but the Army chose to proceed without FAA approval, according to sources.
