US Southern Command, under the command of General Francis L. Donovan, carried out a new operation aimed at eliminating drug trafficking threats in international Pacific waters.

The military action targeted a boat that was traveling along a known international drug trafficking route. According to official data, two crew members died and a third survived.

The American Armed Forces detailed that, after the attack, the Coast Guard activated the search and rescue system to help the vessel’s crew member who survived the operation.

On the same day, the US seized a submarine in the Pacific, together with the Colombian armed forces, an initiative that resulted in the destruction of 10 tons of cocaine, a drug valued at approximately US$441 million, and the detention of four people.

The new attack on a speedboat adds to 40 similar attacks carried out in international waters since August 2025, as part of President Donald Trump’s project to protect his country from the threats of drug trafficking.

The new attack on a vessel in the Pacific comes a week after the official visit of the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, to the White House.
