The US and Israel launched attacks against Iran after weeks of threats from President Donald Trump. According to the Iranian press, the entire territory is under attack. The Israeli Army claims that “dozens of military targets” have already been hit. At least three explosions were recorded in the capital, Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump confirmed the offensive, declaring that the goal is to “defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime,” which he described as “an evil group of very cruel and terrible people.”
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced that Israel and the United States are conducting a “joint operation” against what he called an “existential threat” posed by Iran. According to Netanyahu, the attack could “create the conditions for the courageous Iranian people to take control of their destiny.”
The Israeli Armed Forces reported that they will call up around 70,000 reservists in the coming hours and days, mainly to reinforce air defenses, rear command and border protection.
According to the New York TimesIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, communicating that Iran intends to attack American military bases in the region. The information was confirmed in an official note published by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
