These vehicles have been deployed to the 3rd Mechanized Battalion, and intensive training is already underway as they are evaluated as essential equipment to increase the unit’s mobility and firepower.
The video released by the brigade contains scenes of driving training, live ammunition shooting, and target engagement during day and night operations. The vehicle was equipped with additional protection devices to counter shaped charge bombs, improving survivability on the battlefield.
At the end of January, the 42nd Brigade took part in the defense of the village of Novopavlivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. According to reports, the enemy attempted a rapid advance using light vehicles, but was detected by reconnaissance drones. After about two hours of fighting, the attack was repulsed, with more than 40 enemy combatants killed.
The BTR-4 was developed in the mid-2000s and has been in service with the Ukrainian National Guard since 2014. Designed to transport up to eight troops with fire support, it is equipped with a 30mm cannon, grenade launcher, coaxial machine gun, and can also integrate anti-tank missiles. Even in the midst of a large-scale war, Ukraine maintains domestic production of the armored vehicles.
