The Peace Council, a body created by United States President Donald Trump, will allocate more than US$5 billion for humanitarian and reconstruction initiatives in the Gaza Strip. The announcement was made this Sunday (15) by Trump himself in a post on his social network, Truth Social.
According to the publication, the commitment to send the amount will be formalized on February 19, 2026, during a Council meeting at the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute, in Washington, DC.
In addition to the value, Trump also stated that the members of the Council “committed thousands of people” to form an International Stabilization Force and reinforce the Gaza police, with the aim of “maintaining the security and peace of the inhabitants of Gaza”.
“On February 19, 2026, I will meet again with members of the Peace Council at the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute in Washington, DC, where we will announce that Member States have pledged more than $5 BILLION to humanitarian and reconstruction efforts in Gaza and committed thousands of professionals to the International Stabilization Force and Local Police in order to maintain Security and Peace for the people of Gaza,” he wrote.
The president declared that the Peace Council has “unlimited potential”. The president recalled that his government came up with the plan to put an end to the conflict in Gaza. Trump recalled that this plan was unanimously approved by the UN Security Council. The Republican also added that this plan made it possible for humanitarian aid to enter Gaza “at record speed” and guaranteed the release of all living and dead Israeli hostages.
The president also reiterated that he considers it essential that the terrorist group Hamas fulfills “its commitment to total and immediate demilitarization”. He stated that the Peace Council “will prove to be the most consequential international body in history” and declared it an honor to chair the initiative.
Initially created to oversee the post-conflict plan in the Gaza Strip, the Council expanded its scope, according to Trump, to support the resolution of other international conflicts.
