Trump says he prefers diplomacy, but threatens Iran again The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that he would not like to order military action in Iran, but that “sometimes it is necessary” when asked about tensions with Tehran this Friday (27). ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp Trump spoke briefly with reporters at the White House door before embarking on a trip to Texas and assured that he wanted an agreement with the Iranian government. With Oman’s mediation, the two countries have been seeking a diplomatic solution that would ensure a new nuclear agreement. According to the North American president, a new round of talks will take place this Friday. “I haven’t made a decision yet on Iran. I’m not satisfied with the way they negotiated, but new negotiations are expected this Friday. I want to make a deal, but Iran can’t have nuclear weapons,” said Trump, who when asked about the use of military force, added: “I don’t want to, but sometimes it’s necessary.” Donald Trump speaking to reporters at the White House REUTERS/Evelyn Hockstein The new round of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program began this Thursday (26). The meeting was paused after around three hours of negotiations in the morning and resumed for another hour in the late afternoon. Neither the US nor Iran have officially commented on the alleged pause in negotiations or the outcome of the meeting. However, according to the American website Axios, Americans evaluated the meeting as positive. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the meeting resulted in “good progress.” Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi, who is mediating the talks, stated that there had been “significant progress”. On the brink of conflict, the US and Iran agree to negotiate technical details of a possible nuclear deal. The Axios report also says that US negotiators were willing to demonstrate a certain degree of flexibility to allow Tehran to enrich uranium, as long as they proved that they do not seek to build a nuclear bomb. This Friday, the Iranian foreign minister asked the United States to abandon “excessive demands” to reach the agreement. With tensions in the Middle East on the rise, also this Friday, the American government authorized non-essential diplomatic employees from its embassy in Israel to leave the country.
