The United States awarded a $197 million contract to the Raytheon company that seven MS-110 deliver a reconnaissance capsule to the Polish Air Force.
A Defence Blog according to his report, the announcement was published by the company itself on January 28, 2023. Work is underway in Westford, Massachusetts and is expected to be completed by August 2031.
The contract was issued by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and includes seven MS-110 reconnaissance capsule production and aircraft integration and engineering support.
The MS-110 an advanced aerial intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capsule designed to collect extensive, long-range imagery in day and night conditions. The system uses multispectral sensors that, combined with covert processing, enable rapid image analysis during flight operations.
A Raytheon according to it MS-110 integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to rapidly process and interpret images, reducing the time between data collection and use.
“The MS-110 system offers advanced capabilities by putting next-generation processing at the tactical edge to defeat cloaking and decoys in near real-time,” he said Dan Theisena Advanced Products and Solutions its president.
“This capability allows the United States and our allies to maintain a strategic advantage in an evolving global defense environment by strengthening survivability, response, and broad surveillance capabilities.”
The capsules are compatible with a wide range of aircraft, including advanced fighter jets, maritime patrol aircraft, special mission platforms and medium-altitude, long-range unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
This flexibility allows the Air Force to deploy the system in different missions without having to modify the aircraft’s main systems.
As part of NATO’s eastern flank’s intelligence and surveillance efforts, Poland can use the pods for extensive independent surveillance missions while providing data directly to allied networks.
