A Nissan owner has shared a trick he discovered to permanently disable his vehicle’s start-stop function.

Ryan posted a video on his TikTok profile in which he says that he hates the automatic engine shutdown system after braking, which is found in many modern cars.

Although many car manufacturers use this device, which is said to help reduce fuel consumption, most motorists hate this feature.

Ryan even said that when the feature was on, his car idled for over 8.5 hours and saved just 11 liters of gas. Many Internet users claim that if the start-stop function is left on, it can destroy the car’s starting system more quickly.

Fortunately, the cars that have start-stop with programming, they are also equipped with a button somewhere in the cabin that enables the function to be turned off. However, it does not remain permanently off, so the driver must manually press the button each time they start the car.

That’s what really pissed Ryan off. Since he couldn’t find a way to turn it off permanently, he said he discovered how to fix it with a simple piece of paper he placed between the button and the panel.

“Yes. I haven’t touched that button in weeks. And I’m the happiest person on the planet,” Ryan celebrated in a video posted on his TikTok profile, which has already garnered more than 40,000 views and many comments from users expressing their opinion on Ryan’s solution.

“High-tech problems require low-tech solutions,” joked one TikTok user. “Personally, I’d pull the switch out and connect it to pull it up/down without [a pálcát] I would use it, but it still works,” analyzed another user.

“This is a big problem because it should be optional, not on by default and have to be turned off manually every time you start the vehicle,” complained a third user. “You simply let your battery run down to the point that a start-stop won’t connect anymore,” joked another user.
