French National Navy (Marine Nationale) took delivery of its eighteenth Modernized Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) Atlantic 2 (ATL2).

The delivery was made by the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) last Tuesday (17), the server said Naval News. It is the last modernized aircraft in the modernization program ATL2.

An upgrade that focuses on the combat system ATL2is intended to allow the aircraft to remain in operational service beyond 2030 with improved performance.

This upgrade was done by the Aviation Maintenance Center IAE under the supervision of the DGA, based on the specifications developed by the companies Dassault Aviation a Thales.

“Modernized aircraft ATL2 thus increasing their ability to counter threats in all weather conditions, be it submarines, the latest surface vessels or land vehicles,” the DGA said in a statement.

Now all 18 aircraft will be modernized ATL2 MPA stationed at the Lann Bihoué Naval Air Base in the Brittany region.
