Ten people were injured after a gas cylinder exploded inside a residence on Monday afternoon (3), in Jardim Ângela, South Zone of the capital of São Paulo. To date, there is no official information on the health status of the victims.
According to the Fire Department, the accident occurred when the cylinder fell with the valve open, causing a gas leak that, after some time, resulted in an explosion inside the property. At least seven vehicles were called to respond to the incident.
Crews managed to control the flames and contain the leak, preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring houses. The fire was completely extinguished by firefighters.
According to the doctor at the region’s hospital, ten victims were admitted to the health unit, all of whom were helped before the teams arrived at the explosion site. Among the injured, five are intubated — three adults and two children.
After dealing with the incident, the site was left under the responsibility of Civil Defense, which will assess the condition of the property’s structure.
