Swedish Navy signs €63 million contract for Seasnake 30 naval system

The Swedish Navy becomes the first NATO member to deploy the new Seasnake 30 maritime weapon system developed by Rheinmetall.

The initial contract, signed in February 2026, provides for the purchase of eight systems, with an estimated value of €63 million.

The systems are being installed as the main armament of the new fast attack vessels Combat Boat 90. Delivery of the first system is scheduled for February 2028.

The framework agreement has a duration of four years and includes training munitions with air blast capability, 30mm training munitions, spare parts and support services. The contract also includes an option to purchase up to 29 additional Seasnake 30 systems.

The Seasnake 30 is a light, remotely operated naval system designed for short-range defense missions. In addition to the 30 mm revolver gun, the system has high-definition cameras for day operations, infrared sensors and a laser rangefinder.

The system is equipped with automatic target detection and can track multiple targets simultaneously. The nominal maximum rate of fire is 1,100 rounds per minute.

One of the key distinguishing features of the Seasnake 30 is its integrated ammunition with air-blast capability, which increases its effectiveness against aerial targets, including drones. The compact, low-signature design helps reduce detectability by enemy sensors.

First NATO customer strengthens strategic positioning
