The Superior Military Court (STM) gave ten days for former president Jair Bolsonaro to present a defense in the action that could result in the loss of his military rank. The decision was taken this Tuesday (10).
The statement must be made in writing and responds to the representation presented by the Military Public Ministry, which requests the expulsion of the former president of the Armed Forces. The request comes after the conviction of Bolsonaro and other military personnel by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) for attempted coup.
The possible loss of the patent is analyzed through a procedure called “representation due to unworthiness or incompatibility for the official position”. After receiving the defense, the case will return to the reporting minister’s office, and there is still no scheduled date for trial.
If the STM determines the loss of his patent, the salary currently received by Bolsonaro could be converted into a pension for his wife or daughters, as provided for by military legislation.
