The Sudanese army announced the destruction of a Chinese-made FK-2000 air defense system operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Ed Dubeibat region of South Kordofan.

According to the military, the equipment was used to counter Sudanese Air Force aircraft, affecting air operations in the central and southern regions of the country.

According to the Sudanese command, the system was neutralized during recent fighting in the area. The FK-2000 was reportedly employed by the RSF to contest flights of transport aircraft and attack drones, heightening the challenge for government forces in conflict airspace.

Developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporationthe FK-2000 combines surface-to-air missiles and two 30mm automatic cannons mounted on an 8×8 vehicle. The system can engage aerial targets at ranges between 1.2 and 25 kilometers, using radar and optical sensors for tracking and engagement, providing short- and medium-range air defense coverage.

Military sources say the systems were allegedly supplied to the RSF by the United Arab Emirates, with a transfer route passing through Chad. The use of this type of advanced weaponry — including imported drones and anti-aircraft systems — highlights the growing sophistication of Sudan’s conflict and heightens international concerns about weapons proliferation in the region.
