This Thursday (12), Senator Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE), filed a representation with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) requesting that the body forward to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) a request to remove Minister Dias Toffoli from conducting the investigation that investigates the irregularities committed in the Banco Master case.
The parliamentarian maintains that there would be elements that would cast doubt on the minister’s impartiality in the case. According to the representation, mentions of Toffoli were identified in dialogues held between those investigated as part of the investigation.
The document points to references to alleged payments destined to the company Maridt Participações SA, of which the minister is a member of the corporate structure. For the senator, the facts reported would justify the analysis, by the PGR and the STF, of any possible impediment or removal of the magistrate from conducting the case.
Earlier, Dias Toffoli stated that he does not maintain a friendly relationship nor has he received payments from Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master and investigated by the Federal Police. The minister also stated that the management of the company involved in the sale of the resort is run by family members. He also acknowledged that he is part of the company’s corporate structure.
In the representation, Alessandro Vieira also cites Toffoli decisions that, in his assessment, differ from the standard adopted in similar investigations and would have impacted the progress of the case.
Among the points mentioned are the sealing and safeguarding of electronic evidence on the premises of the Federal Supreme Court itself, removing the material from the custody of the Federal Police, in addition to the setting of deadlines considered restrictive, which would have made it difficult for the corporation to carry out examinations.
The senator asks not only for the redistribution of the investigation report, but also for the Attorney General’s Office to initiate a specific investigation into the transfers to the company Maridt Participações SA In the document, he requests that possible practices of passive corruption, malfeasance and obstruction of justice be investigated.
