The move had come ahead of schedule after new compromising revelations about his links to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. ✅ Follow the g1 international news channel on WhatsApp The former prince, aged 65, was “expelled” by the king from his residence as a member of the royal family — the Royal Lodge, in Windsor after the scandal came to light. The departure was hastened by the new batch of Epstein case files coming to light, which show extensive correspondence between Andrew and the financier. Despite the humiliation of sneaking out of his old home in the middle of the night, Andrew could look forward to a comfortable life in a country house within the Sandringham complex known as Marsh Farm: a mansion with five bedrooms, two houses and a private woodland. He didn’t get to move into the official house, however. When he was arrested on Thursday, he was awaiting the end of extensive renovations at Marsh Farm while he was stationed at nearby Wood Farm. Epstein case: US Department of Justice releases over 3 million files Wood Farm was the place chosen by his father, Prince Philip, to spend most of his last days after retiring from public life in 2017. He would die in 2021. Unlike the Windsor and Buckingham estates, which are owned by the Crown, Sandringham is the private property of King Charles III. The site includes mansions, gardens, woodlands and lakes used by the royal family and their guests. The appreciation of the English royal family for the place is famous and spans generations. Kings often spent periods of vacation and leave there — two of them, George V and George VI, Charles and Andrew’s grandfather and great-grandfather, died on the property. The Windsors also frequently hunt in the surrounding woods. New Epstein files show former English prince Andrew kneeling next to woman US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE/AFP Sandringham was a private property when it was purchased in 1862 by Crown Prince Albert Edward, son of Queen Victoria and who would become King Edward VII. The then Duke of Wales carried out a huge renovation of the place, which became, according to one of his guests, “the most comfortable house in England”. The property became the traditional meeting point for the royal family to spend Christmas. Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II took the opportunity to breed horses and hunting dogs there as well. According to sources interviewed by Reuters, Andrew will not occupy any wing of the main building and has been allocated one of the smaller houses on the property, known as Marsh Farm. According to “Vanity Fair” magazine, the house, although spacious, is far from offering the luxury that Andrew enjoyed at the Royal Lodge. Still, the place has five bedrooms and two reception rooms. There are rumors that the residence, known as Mash Farm, would be receiving a renovation to accommodate the new resident, but the information is difficult to confirm, as Sandringham has a strict privacy and security policy extended to its airspace, closed to any type of flight. The king also stated that his solidarity is with the victims of abuse. ➡️ New files related to Epstein, released by the US Department of Justice on Friday, included emails that suggest Andrew was in regular contact with Epstein for more than two years after he was found guilty of sex crimes against children. In addition to having already appeared in photographs alongside one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Giuffre, who he had denied knowing, new images reveal Andrew next to a young woman lying on the floor, whose identity has not been revealed (see image above). Andrew has denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein and has previously denied having ties to the financier following Epstein’s 2008 conviction, except for a visit to New York in 2010 to end their relationship.
