This Wednesday morning (11), the Federal Police launched the third phase of Operation Paper Boat, which investigates crimes against the financial system involving the management of RioPrevidência resources.
In today’s action, federal police officers carry out two search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to those investigated in the municipalities of Balneário Camboriú/SC and Itapema/SC. The warrants were issued by the 6th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro, based on evidence of obstruction of investigations and concealment of evidence.
The objective of this third phase is to locate and recover the goods, valuables and objects taken from the apartment of the main target of the operation launched on January 23rd. As soon as the team arrived to carry out the search at the property located in Balneário Camboriú, one of the occupants of the property threw a suitcase containing money, in cash, from the apartment window. In addition to the amount recovered, police officers seized two luxury vehicles and two smartphones.
Operação Barco de Papel investigates irregularities in the acquisition of financial bills issued by Banco Master, recently liquidated by the Central Bank. Between November 2023 and July 2024, RioPrevidência would have invested approximately R$970 million in the financial institution.
