Parliamentarians begin to analyze this Tuesday (10) the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, signed on January 17, in Asunción, Paraguay.
The process will begin with the Brazilian Representation in the Parliament of the South American bloc, which is expected to vote on the favorable opinion of deputy rapporteur Arlindo Chinaglia this morning. The commission is made up of 37 parliamentarians.
The document highlights that the agreement provides for the gradual reduction or elimination of import and export tariffs. The cuts reach more than 90% of total trade between the blocks. In addition, it establishes common rules for areas such as industrial and agricultural goods, investments and regulatory standards.
The text on the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union will still go to the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, which should approve it shortly after Carnival. Afterwards, the document will go to the Senate. According to legislative advisors, parliamentarians vote to approve or reject the text of the agreement in full, without changes.
