A Nissan owner shared a trick he discovered to permanently disable the “start-stop” function in his vehicle.
Ryan posted a video on his TikTok profile in which he explained that he hates the automatic engine shutdown after braking, a feature present in many modern vehicles.
Although many car manufacturers have adopted this tool that apparently helps reduce fuel consumption, most drivers hate this feature.
Ryan even explained that with the feature enabled, his car was off for over 8.5 hours and only saved 11 liters of gas. Many Internet users argue that turning on the Start-Stopfunction can cause the car’s starting systems to wear out more quickly.
Luckily, cars that come with the Start-Stop– Programming, there is also a button somewhere in the interior with which the function can be deactivated. However, it doesn’t stay permanently disabled, so the driver has to manually press the button every time they start the car.
This frustrated Ryan. Looking for a way to permanently disable the feature, he explained that he figured out how to do it with a simple piece of paper that he placed between the button and the panel.
“Yes. I haven’t touched this button in weeks. And I’m the happiest man on the planet,” Ryan celebrated in a video he posted to his TikTok profile, which has now received more than 40,000 views and numerous comments from users expressing their opinions on Ryan’s solution.
“High tech problems require low tech solutions,” one TikTok user joked. “Personally, I would pull out the switch and connect it so that it works without [den Stab] is pulled up/down, but that’s how it works,” analyzed another.
“It’s a big problem because it should be optional, not on by default, and has to be turned off manually every time you start the vehicle,” complained a third user. “Just let your battery drain to the point that Start-Stop no longer works,” joked another.
