The new rules for the use of food vouchers and meal vouchers in the country come into force this Tuesday (10). The changes are part of the update to the Workers’ Food Program, the PAT.
The decree signed by President Lula limits the discount rate charged to supermarkets and restaurants to 3.6%, and the interchange fee to 2%, without additional charges. Another change is the deadline for transferring money to establishments, which goes from 30 to up to 15 days after purchase.
The regulation also prohibits commercial practices considered abusive in the sector. Despite legal challenges made by large benefit companies, the Ministry of Labor states that the decree remains in force and must be complied with. The Workers’ Food Program serves more than 22 million people across the country.
