Mendonça decides that Vorcaro’s trip to Congress committees is optional and prohibits jetting

by Marcelo Moreira

Minister André Mendonça, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), decided that banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, is not obliged to attend the testimonies scheduled for two Senate committees, even though he is confirmed in Congress next week.

Vorcaro is expected to testify at the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and the Economic Affairs Commission on Monday (23) and Tuesday (24), respectively. For the minister, the banker’s attendance at the hearing is optional.

The banker is being investigated in the process that investigates fraud at Master and Mendonça is the new rapporteur of the case. In the same decision, the minister denied a request made by Vorcaro’s defense for the Master’s owner to travel to Brasília on a private jet. Lawyers cited security issues in requesting air transfer.
