President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrived in India this Wednesday (18), at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to fulfill an international agenda centered on artificial intelligence, trade and strategic cooperation.
Before arriving in New Delhi, the presidential delegation stopped in Tunis, Tunisia. In the Indian capital, Lula participates in the Summit on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence, held between February 18 and 21, focusing on security and technology governance.
On the last day of the visit, Lula and Modi are expected to discuss topics such as challenges to multilateralism and the reform of global governance, including possible changes to the UN Security Council. Conversations are also planned on defense, digital technology, energy transition, critical minerals, health and the pharmaceutical industry.
The president travels accompanied by ministers, authorities and businesspeople. According to the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, the mission seeks to advance agreements in the pharmaceutical sector to expand investments, access to medicines and new technologies.
In 2025, India was Brazil’s fifth largest trading partner, with trade exceeding US$15 billion.
