The video was shared on Instagram this Wednesday (25) by skier Carson Schmidt, who recorded the rescue. “As soon as we saw that he had his head down and his feet up, we realized he couldn’t breathe,” Schmidt told the American television network CBS. “I just want this to serve as a reminder to ski safely and always with a partner. It doesn’t have to be an avalanche or a tree pit for someone to get buried when the snow is this deep,” he wrote in the post’s caption. According to CBS, he and his friend are experienced skiers from Sacramento, California, who work at a winter sports equipment store in the city. The rescue took place between the KT-22 Express and Olympic Lady ski lift routes, where two advanced level slopes are located.
