It is #FAKE that photos show an act of cannibalism in Epstein’s files; images are from behind the scenes of a horror short Reproduction Photos are circulating on social media that show an act of cannibalism and were allegedly released in the case files of Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019), a billionaire known for his connection with a vast network of sex and minor trafficking in the early 2000s. IT’S #FAKE. fake seal g1 🛑 What are the images like? Published on But that’s not true. The images are from behind the scenes of a short horror film called Thanksgiving, from 2007. The production was shown in cinemas in the United States during the intermission of the film Grindhouse, by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, as if it were a trailer for a film that would be released. The post shows two images of adults and children gathered around a table. Above it, there is what appears to be the body of a person lying on top of a plate, with an appearance similar to that of a roasted turkey. The content also went viral on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube amid the developments surrounding the release of more than 3 million pages of Epstein’s case files by the United States Department of Justice. ⚠️ Why is this fake? The images are, in fact, from behind the scenes of the short horror film Thanksgiving (2007), by American Eli Roth, shown in American cinemas during the intermission of Grindhouse, a double feature by directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. The short takes place during the US Thanksgiving holiday and makes a parody of horror productions of the “slasher” genre, which usually involve a killer chasing a group of people and graphic scenes of violence. To find the origin of the content, Fato ou Fake did a reverse search on Google Lens and Yandex, a Russian search engine similar to Google. This research serves to verify what content had previously been reproduced by reliable sources – and in what context. The result led to several publications on social media that indicated that the images were from the short Thanksgiving. Fato ou Fake found the production trailer, which features a scene with the same people from the fake post (see below). Yandex pointed out that the same images appear in the behind-the-scenes section available on The Quentin Tarantino Archives, a fan site that brings together records of the director’s productions. Scene from horror short film has been used as if it were part of Epstein’s archives.
