Tempers heated up in this Thursday’s session (26) at the INSS CPMI after the approval of the request to break the confidentiality of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, known as “Lulinha” and son of President Lula.
The vote was symbolic and whoever was against it had to stand. the president of the commission, senator Carlos Viana (PODEMOS-MG), counted the votes and declared the opposition’s victory.
In an interview with Tarde Band News, with Paula Valdez, the vice-president of the commission, deputy Duarte Jr. (PSB-MA), talked behind the scenes to seek agreements in relation to the summons.
“We were together, as vice-president, Mr. Carlos Viana, as president, Alfredo Gaspar, as rapporteur, the leader of the opposition and the leader of the government, Marcelo Van Hatten and deputy Paulo Pimenta. An agreement was attempted there so that all these requests could be approved, but unfortunately it was not possible.
In fact, I took this proposal to the Plenary, stating that if the left, when they mentioned that there was no problem in breaking the confidentiality of Lula’s son, but that they also wanted to summon Zema, who also wanted to summon Governor Tarcísio due to their involvement with some financial institutions, I said: “If everyone in the speech says there is no problem, then bring everyone here, because those who shouldn’t have nothing to fear”.
Government parliamentarians made noise, pointed out vote counting errors and complained that investigations against the BRB bank and people linked to Flávio Bolsonaro and Romeu Zema were not approved. The government leader in Congress, Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP) stated this Thursday that he will appeal to the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, to cancel the session due to irregularities.
“The investigation cannot be a selective investigation. Knowing that they were in the minority, what did they do? In a fraudulent, dishonest act, they rigged the result. Just count,” said the senator
The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), told President Lula’s allies that he will analyze a possible request to annul Lulinha’s breach of confidentiality, approved by the CPMI of the INSS this Thursday.
After the vote that authorized the breach, parliamentarians from the government base went to the official residence in Alcolumbre to try to invalidate the approval, alleging that there was fraud in the vote count.
In view of this, the President of the House instructed them to formally file the objection, with the Presidency of the Senate, and attach all the evidence they claim to have, such as images, photos and videos. From there, the Presidency will analyze the material.
Duarte Jr. directly criticized Alcolumbre’s actions in relation to CPMI’s work.
‘”What legitimacy does Davi Alcolumbre have and if until now he has not delivered the INSS CPMI, the images that demonstrate where Antônio Antunes, the bald guy from the INSS, was here in the National Congress. Because we approved the breach of secrecy here. If there was a failure in the vote, there is a failure on the part of the president of the Senate. First step, before Davi tries to intervene, if he does so, he has to first show the images of where the Careca from the INSS went here in the National Congress”.
THE SUSPICIONS AGAINST “LULINHA”
The president’s eldest son became the target of investigations after the PF found an exchange of messages between Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, the “Careca do INSS“, and businesswoman Roberta Luchsinger, a friend of Lulinha. In the conversation, she asks what the destination of a payment of R$300,000 would be, and the answer, according to the investigation, was that it would be for the “boy’s son”. The suspicion is that it would be a reference to Lula’s son.
CPMI wants to know whether the money from the INSS scheme, which robbed retirees and pensioners, was used to make payments to Lulinha. The connection point with Master is the bank’s consignments to social security beneficiaries.
Lula has already declared that if his son is involved, he will be held responsible.
“I looked my son in the eye and said: Only you know the truth. If you have something, you will pay the price of having something. If you don’t have it, defend yourself,” the president said in an interview earlier this month
BREAK OF CONFIDENTIALITY AT STF AUTHORIZED BEFORE REQUEST TO CPMI
In January of this year, Minister André Mendonça (STF) authorized, under secrecy and at the request of the Federal Police, the breaking of Fábio Luís Lula da Silva’s tax, banking and telematic secrecy. The measure was taken after the PF pointed out that he was mentioned in an investigation into INSS deviations.
OTHER CALLED UP
The INSS CPMI also approved the summons of businesswoman Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras and owner of Crefisa, as a witness. The finance company is responding to lawsuits for abusive interest rates and was the main winner in a auction to pay new INSS benefits.
THE OTHER SIDE
In a note, released on Thursday night (26), Lulinha’s defense said that he received the news of the breach of confidentiality both by the CPMI and, supposedly, in the files of the Federal Supreme Court investigation with peace of mind and that he had no participation in the INSS fraud and did not commit any crime.
The lawyers highlighted that, from the beginning, Fábio expressly placed himself at the
provision of the STF, informing its intention to provide all clarifications that the Court deemed necessary.
In light of today’s news, the defense also informed that it petitioned the STF asking for access to the alleged breach of confidentiality, stating that we will voluntarily provide the documents to the Court
relevant.
The lawyers reinforced that breach of confidentiality is unnecessary, as it is not necessary to coerce anyone who has shown an unequivocal interest in contributing from the beginning.
