One of the leaders of Comando Vermelho in Tocantins, José Mateus Silveira Carneiro, known as Galo Cego, was arrested this Tuesday (10) in Vidigal, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Civil Police action in the community was marked by intense gunfire.
According to investigations, Galo Cego is linked to the biggest security crisis in the history of Tocantins, which resulted in 100 deaths in just five months. He occupied the position of second in the faction’s hierarchy in the state and was until then the main leader of the group when free.
According to the police, the criminal had been under monitoring for months and was carrying a false document at the time of his arrest.
