The Federal Government announced on Tuesday night (24) that it will release emergency aid for victims of the rains in Minas Gerais. The vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, announced the grant of R$800 for each homeless person in the eight municipalities in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais affected by heavy rains.
According to Alckmin, the amount will be passed on to city halls. In addition, Bolsa Família and Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) payments will be advanced. As acting president — as Lula is fulfilling an agenda abroad — he also highlighted that all necessary support will be provided and that “the most important thing is helping the victims”.
Payments of Bolsa Família and the Continuous Payment Benefit will also be advanced for families who have this right. The Armed Forces have already been sent to the region with an Army helicopter to support logistics and rescues.
