Before the meeting, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that the country would negotiate “seriously and flexibly” and would only deal with the nuclear issue and the removal of sanctions. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, who mediated the talks between the two countries, said that “the negotiators demonstrated an unprecedented openness to new and creative ideas and solutions.”
