CMN authorizes another R$8 billion in credit for the Post Office

by Marcelo Moreira

In a resolution published this Thursday (27), the National Monetary Council authorized the contracting of over R$8 billion in credit operations through the Post Office, with a guarantee from the Union.

With the measure, the total volume authorized for credit operations by public entities – with and without a guarantee from the Union – increased from around R$15 billion to R$23 billion this year, an increase of exactly R$8 billion.

The new authorization complements the R$12 billion operation already contracted by the state-owned company at the end of 2025 with a consortium of public and private banks, also with approval from the National Treasury. At the time, the total estimated financing need was R$20 billion, but only part of the amount was actually contracted.
