The Bundeswehr received the first five pre-production Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, marking the beginning of the modernization of a significant part of the German land fleet.
In total, Germany intends to acquire up to 876 units of the model, which will gradually replace the old TPz Fuchs, in service since the 1980s.
The official delivery took place at the Zeithain logistics depot and was conducted by Patria, responsible for developing the vehicle. According to the Federal Equipment Office of the Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), the armored vehicles will be available in different versions, serving engineering troops and armored reconnaissance units. Additionally, the platform will serve as the basis for the NEMO mortar system.
The project is part of the international Common Armored Vehicle System program, which brings together Germany, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway in the joint development of armored vehicles. The initiative seeks to standardize capabilities, reduce costs and strengthen industrial cooperation between participating countries.

Initially, production will be carried out in Finland and Latvia, but series manufacturing will be transferred to Germany, with the participation of local companies such as KNDS Deutschland. The expectation is that the first vehicles produced in German territory will be delivered from 2027, within contracts worth more than US$2.36 billion.
