Brazil condemns US and Israeli attacks on Iran

by Marcelo Moreira

The Brazilian government released this Saturday (28) an official note condemning attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran. In the statement, Brazil expresses “serious concern” about the offensive and highlights that the actions took place amid a negotiation process between the parties involved.

According to the note, dialogue is “the only viable path to peace”a position that the country claims to traditionally defend in the region. The Brazilian government also called on all parties to respect international law and exercise “maximum restraint” in order to avoid an escalation of hostilities.

The text also highlights the need to protect civilians and civil infrastructure in the face of worsening military tension. The positioning comes after the intensification of the conflict, which raised international alert about the risks of expanding the crisis in the Middle East.

Guidance for Brazilians in the region

Itamaraty reported that Brazilian embassies in the affected countries are monitoring developments in military actions, with special attention to Brazilian communities living in the region.

According to the statement, Brazil’s ambassador in Tehran maintains direct contact with Brazilian citizens in the country to provide updates on the situation and security guidelines.

The government recommends that Brazilians who reside or are temporarily in the countries involved follow the guidelines of local authorities and pay extra attention to security measures.

The note reinforces Brazil’s historic defense of diplomatic solutions in international conflicts and highlights the concern about possible humanitarian impacts if the military escalation continues.
