American and United take 8% of Azul after contributions of US$ 100 million

by Marcelo Moreira

The airline Azul reported this Monday (23) that North American American Airlines e United Airlines each will hold 8% of the company’s shares. Azul’s CEO, John Rodgerson, detailed the agreement after the exit from Chapter 11 — a mechanism similar to Brazilian judicial recovery — announced on Friday night (20).

The participation of the two companies was concluded after the contributions of US$ 100 million announced on February 19th. In the case of American, the agreement still needs to be approved by the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Where). Negotiations also involve the expansion of commercial partnerships. Azul already has a cooperation agreement with United, a model that should be replicated with American.

The company also informed that it signed an Additional Investment Agreement with current creditors, providing for new capital contributions worth US$100 million, to be made within the scope of the Equity Rights Offering (ERO).
